🔥FIRE
My everything is engulfed, when I look into fire.
The process of dead wood turning into ‘living’ coals is so fascinating to me. The small, dry, cracked, and knotted sticks are the preferred, for the flame to catch-a-fire, while the green {alive} stuff is resistant, and the larger pieces take longer. Lots of air is needed to kindle the fire, The wood is slow to respond. And boundaries are needed to feed it and tend to it.
A very close friend of mine that I grew up with told me that growing up in Hawaii, on volcanic rock gave us locals a innate fire. I like to think of the fire in me, how I consciously ignite it and how to initiate ‘controlled burns’.
Just as we use the smaller, drier sticks to start a fire – I find the most overlooked or less favorably pieces of me are often the quickest and ripest to kindle, to use to light a fire in my life.
