Sat Nam! I'm so fortunate to have been able to take the Soul of Wellness course, at the Institute of the Soul of Yoga in Encinitas, CA, affording me to learn from high caliber teachers- Amy Weintraub, Leslie Kaminoff & Monique Lonner.
Amy Weintraub taught how to meet the mood- to then manage it, to cue specifically- directing the awareness to specific areas of sensation (as the body is ALWAYS present) & grounding- always return to right here, right now. She is so passionate, so fun & a wealth of knowledge stemming from personal experience. My fav mantra takeaway from Amy is "Unshakable confidence & trust flows through me now. I have everything I need to manage my life"
Learning anatomical alignment from Leslie Kaminoff was radical & expansive- Many uh-ohs were transmuted into ah-has! His invitation to bring awareness & attention to proprioceptive input & to inquire how the pathway of downward weight through our base of support (showing how this is what the earth and our lives respond to) was trajectory shifting in my understanding of healthy movement. He reminded in fascinating ways that function is always more important than form. My key takeaway from Leslie is "Our real contribution in the world is to help people focus on whats still going right; there is always far more going right, then could ever possibly go wrong..as long as someone is drawing breath"
Familiar with the Kundalini tradition, being given a framework to put the new techniques learned from Amy & Leslie into was very useful. Monique Lonner provided a wonderful, structured approach to sequencing & guidelines on how the different tools (asana, breath, mantra, theme, mudra, rest) can be pulled together for a 'journey of yoga'. She's inspiring!
Immense gratitude to Dennis Chowenhill for the engaging dialectic of the Bhagavad Gita, exploring with us the scripture's theses, antitheses and synthesis- from the experience of what it is to be a yogi.
Excited to continue this journey to myself, through myself- This Journey of Yoga.
~remembering, "Healing is changing your relationship to whats gone wrong"(Leslie Kaminoff) & "Its ok to break the rules, if you KNOW WHY youre doing it"(Monique Lonner)
🙏🏽Namaste✨
